- Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat ribs dry with paper towels and brush both sides with olive oil.
- Mix together all dry rub ingredients in a bowl. Sprinkle generously over both sides of the ribs, pressing firmly to adhere.
- Place ribs on the prepared baking sheet meat-side up. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 2 hours until tender.
- Combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Set aside.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat or set oven broiler to high.
- Remove ribs from oven and discard foil. Brush generously with BBQ sauce. Grill or broil for 5-8 minutes, turning and basting with additional sauce, until caramelized and slightly charred.
- Let ribs rest for 5 minutes before slicing between bones. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
